When I first started my research journey in this program, I was nervous and apprehensive. Having previously completed a B.Sc. (Hons) and worked under a professor to complete a thesis, I was all too familiar with the intense use of ANOVAs, correlations, and constant data analysis. I remember thinking, “Oh no, more math and more of me sitting in front of a computer, isolated.” However, despite two of these courses being mandatory, I was pleasantly surprised by the real-life implications they had for my profession. I found that the research wasn’t just about numbers and abstract concepts, but about making meaningful connections and understanding how research could be applied in everyday educational settings. This shift in perspective opened my eyes to the value of research in practice and the importance of connecting theory to real-world outcomes.
